Wayne Maureau is a professional drummer, percussionist, and music educator in the New Orleans area. His superb command of the Brazilian drumset vocabulary has earned him the respect of local musicians, as well as Brazilian piano star Jovino Santos Neto, who has requested Wayne for his performances in the New Orleans area. He has performed with many local artists including: Walter "Wolfman" Washington, James Rivers, Lenny McDaniel, Marva Wright, Kermit Ruffins, Philip Manuel, Sharon Martin, Luther Kent, Betty Shirley, The Pfister Sisters, Topsy Chapman, Leroy Jones, Tim Laughlin, Kipori Woods, Al Belletto, and numerous others. Recorded performances include: The Chuck Chaplin Trio, "Conclusive Evidence", Guitar Vic & The Slicktones, "Now Get Out", Al Martino "I've Heard That Song Before", and The John Mahoney Big Band, "In From Somewhere". In addition to performing and recording, Wayne teaches drumset at Tulane University and Delgado Community College. His first recording as a leader, "Sidewalk Safari" was released in May 2002, and features original compositions and arrangements by Wayne, showcasing his affinity for Brazilian and Latin rhythms. The cast includes some of New Orleans finest musicians, such as Lawrence Sieberth and Tony Dagradi. Link
